Dear Baby,
Last night, I felt you move for the first time. It was one of the best moments of my life. Although I have seen many pictures of you and have watched you dancing around in there, to actually feel you was a moment that I will never forget. It meant you were alive. It meant that you are growing as you should. It meant that this really isn't just a dream. It meant that you liked mommy's Lucky Charms that I had for dinner just before I felt you. It meant that you, too, were tired of reading Our Underachieving Colleges and wanted to play.
I keep waiting to feel you move again. Maybe tonight I'll eat another big bowl of Lucky Charms and turn on some fun music, since I think you probably like to dance like your Mimi (who will be one cool grandma).
Your daddy had to work last night because the Harlem Globetrotters were in town (don't worry, we'll take you to plenty of stuff like that). I texted him and told him that you were moving and in as much emotion as a text can convey, I could tell he was very excited and jealous all at the same time. He says he can't wait to feel you move. I didn't tell him this, but I am selfish and want to keep you to myself for as long as I can because in just a short time, I'll have to share you with the world.
Speaking of your daddy, I can't wait for you to meet him. He is a great man and aside from his lack of domestication and sub-par photography skills, he is pretty much perfect. Like mommy, he already loves you so, so much. He smiles when he talks about you and his big dimples - which I hope you get - shine. He talks all of the time about the fun things we can do when you get here, like go on vacations, go to basketball games, and yes - he's already talking about the sports he hopes you play.
But for now it's just you and me, kid. I pray daily that you continue to grow strong and I look forward to feeling you move again so that I might know for sure that you're safe and sound inside that comfy cocoon. You won't understand or appreciate this until you're older, but we tried so hard to get you and we will love and support you forever and ever.
Stay strong, little one.
Love,
Mommy
