12/14/11

Life is {12 weeks}

We reached a pretty big milestone today!  12 weeks.  I am well aware that something could still happen, but the chances of carrying the baby to full term at this point are like 98%.  That's pretty good news!

As I mentioned in my last post, I fired Les as the belly photographer.  Luckily, my co-worker, Chandra, had the same issues with her photographer (husband) during her pregnancy.  She graciously stepped in as my new photographer and did a great job!

Baby size:  Baby F is about the size of a plum.  S/he is about 2 inches from head to rump.  Lots of stuff is happening in there right now: Its reflexes are forming and the baby's fingers will soon begin opening and closing.  His/her mouth will make sucking movements, ready to eat!  Meanwhile, its brain synapses are forming furiously (one smart critter).

Baby F's face looks unquestionably human: his/her eyes have moved from the sides to the front of the head {a little less alien-like} and are now right where they should be!

How far along: 12 weeks

Total weight gain: No clue.  My butt is gaining weight rather quickly though.

Sleep: It's ok.  I still wake up several times a night to pee, but can usually go back to sleep.  The dreams are out. of. control!  Seriously - crazy, crazy, crazy stuff!  I have been waking up around 2-4am and have some trouble going to sleep.

Maternity Clothes: Yup!  A lot of people like the Belly Band; a tight, uncomfortable contraption that can be used with regular pants to hold them up so you can wear them unbuttoned. I hate the Belly Band.  It suffocates me.  So, I switched to maternity pants and they're much more comfortable and that's all I wear!

Food cravings : None

Food aversions: None!

Symptoms: Exhaustion.  It's completely tolerable and I'm getting more and more energy, so I feel great!

Exercise:  I plan to start back up after Christmas break!

Movement: No way - too early!

Gender: TEAM GREEN! (we're not finding out)

Best moment of the week: We finally announced on Facebook that we were expecting! It feels good to not have a secret any more!

I posted this picture:
With a caption that read, "feeling extra blessed this Christmas season.  Les and I are expecting a bundle of joy in June!"

The responses were overwhelming!  We feel so incredibly blessed and really appreciate all of the kind words!
What I’m looking forward to:
Our Nuchal Scan on Monday!  (12/19)  That's the last time we'll see the little critter until our 20 week ultrasound!

What I miss: Jimmy John's Turkey Sandwiches and endless Diet Coke.  It's worth it though!

Things that have been on my mind: I have just been feeling so incredibly blessed lately.  This time of year can be very stressful and sad for some, but I'm counting my blessings for all of the wonderful things in my life: the love of a great husband and family, my health, my faith, my friends, our jobs, and this precious gift growing inside of me.

Merry Christmas!
