11/2/11

Life is {6 weeks}

Today I am 6 weeks pregnant.  In less than one week, we will have our first ultrasound.  I am SO nervous!  I pray daily that the little critter is growing like it should and that it's heart and other organs are doing what they're supposed to.  I will be 6 weeks and 6 days (6w6d) at the ultrasound so I'm really hoping we will hear the heart beat too.  I've heard that's an amazing sound :).

Baby size:  Baby F  is about the size of a sweet pea.  How precious is that!?!  S/he is developing its nose, mouth, and ears.  The eyes and nostrils are also starting to form.  Also, s/he is also about to start sprouting arms and legs.  Crazy, no?  The heartbeat should be around 100-160 beats per minute and its pituitary gland, brain, muscles, and bones are all forming.  Right now, the baby is only about 1/4 of an inch, but full of life.

How far along: 6 weeks

Total weight gain: We don't own a scale, so I have no idea what I weigh.  I haven't been very hungry though so I imagine I haven't gained much, if any.

Sleep: Ehhh, it's ok.  This morning, I woke up at 5:30am because I had to go to the bathroom....30 minutes before the alarm clock was supposed to go off.  I HATE that!

Maternity Clothes: Holy Bloat!  My pants barely button, but I'm just 6 weeks so I know it's entirely too early to have an actual "bump" yet.  I have what I like to call "blump"....a bloat bump.  I wish I could wear sweats to work.

Food cravings : None

Food aversions: I haven't really been hungry at all, so I haven't been having aversions, I'm just not hungry in the slightest bit.

Symptoms:

  • Exhaustion - horrible.  I can barely keep my eyes open from about 1-3pm and then after 8pm.  I did find a remedy though that includes a Diet Coke at 1:00pm.
  • I haven't been hungry at all.  Nothing sounds good.

Exercise:  Hah!  Yeah right!

Movement: No way - too early!

Gender: TEAM GREEN!

Best moment of the week: I found out last Thursday that I got into the Doctoral Program.  It's undoubtedly going to be a CRAZY several of years trying to juggle work, class, and a baby, but this will hopefully provide a better future for our family.

Also, we told my sisters and my aunt about the baby this past weekend.  It was great!  They are all so excited!!  OH, and we caught it on video :)

Notice my mom crying in the background while trying to film.....

What I’m looking forward to:
Our first ultrasound next Tuesday (11/8)!!

What I miss: Being hungry and having energy.  I hear that will all come back.

Things that have been on my mind: How in the world I'm going to make it much longer without switching to maternity pants....nothing fits!

PS - no picture to post this week.  I'm still the same as last week's picture so there's no point :).  Maybe next week.
