Life is {quick}

Wow.  It's been a while since I've posted anything on here.  Don't worry, I'm scolding myself because the whole plan behind this blog was to actually update it and post to it at least once a week.  Fail on my part.

I've been quite the busy bee lately.  Aside from training for the half-marathon (which is just as mentally challenging as it is physical - more on that later), I have been helping my sister plan her wedding, celebrating with friends as they are about to welcome new lives into the world, and I've been sorting through a few issues of my own.  It doesn't really leave much time for blogging, especially when I have nothing compelling to say.

Let's talk about running.
This shiz is hard.  I just started running about a year ago when I decided I was tired of the way I looked and felt.  Fast forward to now - I haven't lost a single pound despite running 3-4 days a week, but I feel glorious and I don't always have to unbutton my pants after a meal - which is a huge accomplishment ;).  The words that are about to come out of my typing fingers are words I never thought I'd say: I. Love. Running.

As I will my legs to move faster than they're used to, and my heart beats more quickly than it knows, I feel alive.  By about mile 3, the sweat rolls down my back, I'm in stride, the pounding of my flat feet keep a rhythmic pace and the sweet, sweet tunes of CeeLo Green, Wiz Khalifa, and P!nk propel me onward.

And then I hit mile 5.  And I get tired.  Not "gasping for air" tired, but "my knee and hips want me to stop" tired.  You see, 10 years ago, I completely blew my knee out and at the age of 27, my body's just not in the shape it once was.  Most of the time, I am able to push through; mind over matter.  Last week on my "long" run, I finished 7 miles.  The furthest I have ever run.  I was super duper tired at mile 5, but I kept going.  When I finished, I was PUMPED that I ran that far.  Running gives me a sense of accomplishment, along with a great work out.

The problem with getting a great workout is that I am famished afterward, and I eat and eat and eat, thus making it impossible to actually lose weight.  And there's my problem.  Maybe after April 30th when I'm finished training for the half and can stop fueling for endurance, I will lose weight and slim down more.  That would be good.  Until then, my motto will be: "I eat so I can run and I run so I can eat".  Sounds pretty logical, no?

My plan for the next 6ish+ weeks until the race is:
